Duluth Counseling Center

About Duluth Counseling Center

How we work

Being a group rather than a solo practice means we can match you to a clinician rather than to whoever happens to be free. If the fit is wrong, you can change therapists inside the practice without starting the paperwork over.

—   Same-day or next-day appointments when we have them, and no long waitlist

—   Most major insurance accepted, plus a sliding scale for people paying privately

—   Evening and Saturday morning appointments for people who work

—   In-person in Duluth or by video across Minnesota, and you can switch between the two

What we believe

You do not need a diagnosis to deserve help. You do not need to have hit a crisis. Therapy works best when it is practical and specific, and when you feel able to be honest in the room — which is mostly a question of whether you like and trust the person sitting across from you.

The first session is mostly you talking and us listening. There is nothing to prepare.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I know which therapist to ask for?

Read the team page and pick whoever sounds right, or call and describe the problem and we will suggest someone. Either is fine.

Do you see children?

We see young people from age 12 upwards. For younger children we will point you to local practices that specialise in play therapy.

You can usually be seen this week

Depending on availability we offer same-day or next-day appointments. There is no long waitlist and no referral required for most plans.
